Malaysia DVD Porn Pirates Captured

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Police believe they have nabbed the mastermind behind a crime operation dubbed the “Lady Boss Gang” that had distributed tens of thousands of illegally copied adult DVDs during the past year.

At around 3 a.m. on Oct. 6, police raided a three-bedroom apartment found to contain more than 25,000 pirated adult DVDs and myriad duplicating equipment.

The woman in charge of the operation, who police are referring to only as “Klang Valley’s Porn Queen,” jumped from a second-story window during the melee, fracturing her leg and pelvis in the fall. Police outside the building rushed the woman to the hospital.

After prying the door open with crow bars and metal cutters, police also found two accomplices — both males in their 20s — hiding under a table.

The “Lady Boss Gang” allegedly copied and re-packaged thousands of adult DVDs out of the apartment — working mostly between midnight and 6 a.m. when neighbors were less likely to see or hear them — then sold the pirated movies to street vendors.

Police say the “Porn Queen” researched the ins and outs of pirating DVDs for as long as a year before actually getting involved in the trade and was reportedly making a good deal of money with the scheme. She may have gotten too greedy, however, as word of the secret operation spread through underground markets and eventually reached the police.

Authorities are investigating what they believe to be several satellite branches of the operation and say more raids may be coming.
